Muhyiddin Congratulates UPSR Candidates
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin congratulated those who have done well in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) and advised those who did not do well not to be disheartened, saying "it's not the end of the road."
"I would like to congratulate all students who had performed well in the recent UPSR examination. I am very proud of you and I am sure that your family, your teachers and the entire nation also feel the same.
"For those who did not do well, this is not the end of the road. It is the beginning of a long journey. There are lots to achieve and may we all work harder for the future," Muhyiddin who is also Education Minister said in a statement emailed to Bernama on Saturday.
The UPSR results were announced on Thursday which saw an increase in the percentage of those obtaining all As, from 9.51 per cent last year to 10.02 per cent this year.
Muhyiddin, who is currently in Yokohama, Japan, to attend the Apec Summit, also paid tribute to teachers, saying their hard work and dedication made the success possible.
"To the parents, I congratulate you for your children's achievement and hope that you will continue to provide the much needed support and encouragement to them.
"To alI top achievers, I believe that your exemplary achievement will set a high benchmark for others to emulate. I hope that you will continue to work harder in the future to sustain your academic excellence and contribute to the progress of our nation," he added.
Muhyiddin said the government would continuously enhance the quality of education and that the recent UPSR results were a clear testimony of the government's effort to provide quality education for all.
